Emmanuel Christian Institute

EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN INSTITUTE, INC. (ECI) is dedicated to providing opportunities for spiritual growth and renewal, leadership training, and theological development to individuals seeking to perfect their calling and to make a difference in their churches, in their communities, and in the world. ECI prepares men and women spiritually and academically to not only know the scriptures but also to apply them to their everyday lives and to help others in their walk with God. We strive always to be a beacon of light in the community, a bridge for all people regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, social, or economic status and a Christ-like example to all.

ECI partners with the esteemed Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology and the Center for Lifelong Learning and Leadership at Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA.  We offer courses for experiential learning credit as well as continuing education units.

We believe in the six-fold ministry of the church: proclamation, teaching, worship, fellowship, witness, and service.  To this end we provide opportunities for our students to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as to fellowship and witness in various parts of the world.  We believe in service to mankind, just as our Savior came to serve and not to be served (Mark 10:45).

History of Emmanuel Christian Institute, Inc.
ECI was founded by Rev. Dr. Connie Welch of Connie Welch Ministries, Inc.  It began with one class, taught in the US and in Nairobi, Kenya in 2010.  By 2014, forty-six certificates were issued to students completing the Accelerated Biblical Studies program.  By 2015, one hundred and six students attended ECI, both in the US, Kenya, and Ghana.

In 2016, ECI established a partnership with the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology and the Center for Lifelong Learning and Leadership at Virginia Union University (VUU).  The purpose of this partnership is to provide current VUU and ECI students with courses meeting academic requirements for the Masters of Divinity.  In addition, certain classes offered through ECI’s certificate programs are now also available to students seeking Continuing Education Units through the Center for Lifelong Learning and Leadership at VUU.

Vision
ECI is, and will continue to be a school of excellence, producing well-trained leaders committed to promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to their ongoing spiritual, theological, and professional development. ECI is committed to providing an atmosphere of learning and also to providing opportunities for students to use their gifts and apply what they have learned while on their journey to fulfilling their own life purpose.

Mission
Our mission is to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to aid in the deliverance of His people through the exhortation, teaching, and application of God’s Holy Word
